The Federation of Netley Abbey Infant and Junior Schools

Remote Learning

If your child has a high temperature, a new continuous cough or a loss  of taste or smell, then the COVID-19 guidelines for schools state that your child must stay at home and not come to school.

It is important that you contact ‘NHS Test and Trace’ for advice to enable your family to book a test as quickly as possible. This will ensure that your child can return to school when advised and not miss lots of key learning opportunities.

At Netley Abbey Junior School, we strive to support parents and their children in the event of self-isolation, to deliver an education that reflects what is happening in school and is responsive to every child’s needs.

Please see our Remote Education Policy for further information.

Suggested websites whilst awaiting test result

During a period of isolation, if your child feels well enough to work, we would recommend choosing suitable activities from any of the following websites. Please contact your teacher via Seesaw if you have any questions about remote learning during this time.

TT Rock Stars

BBC Bitesize Primary

Oak National Academy

Blockly Games Coding

NASA Kids Club

In the event of self-isolation or a positive test, the school is obliged to provide more detailed home learning. The first two days of learning is slightly different from our standard approach; this will give your child’s class teacher time to prepare for a longer period of remote teaching.

Following these two days, we will aim to teach your child the same curriculum remotely as we do in school wherever possible and appropriate. However, we have needed to make some adaptations in some subjects.

Please click on the links below to direct you to your child’s remote learning.

Days 1-2 of self isolation

Days 3-10 of self isolation

English, Maths, Reading and Foundation subject

From day 3, these lessons will be posted on Seesaw as an individualised activity for your child to complete. Please click on the link below to take you to Seesaw and sign in to see the activities on your child’s ‘Homework Class’. Your child’s teacher will then be able to provide feedback and check the child’s understanding.

We advise that you continue to follow our suggested timetable as shown below. For all other tasks, (eg. Brain Break, PE and Thrive) click on the links below to see suggested activities. Please be guided by your child as always and adapt the timetable to suit your family and home situation.

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. If this is the case, please contact our school office to discuss other options for your child.

We also understand that some pupils, for example some pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to provide access arrangements where necessary. Please contact Jo McCusker via our school office to discuss your child’s individual needs and how we can support them at home.
